With the upcoming release of the Mind Palace EP, eclectic Brighton-based band Wax Machine have shifted from being a 7-piece to a 4-piece band, nevertheless their range and experimental blend of styles expands further than ever. ‘Mind Palace’ is a long, hypnotic work that creates a soundscape based on psychedelic performance and extended jazz jams reminiscent of that of Alice Coltrane and Sun Ra. Of the band, GoldFlakePaint say “Wax Machine are like nothing this side of the 21st century; their appeal comes directly from their friendly freakiness that evokes the twisted, playful and slightly scary vibes of those old 60s & 70s B movie soundtracks”.
